October 29, 1923 is a historic date for the whole of Turkey. On this day, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey proclaimed the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, and Mustafa Kemal Ataturk became its first president. This day symbolizes the birth of a modern, secular and independent Turkey!

How do they celebrate this day?
• Flags and portraits of Ataturk: The streets of cities are painted red and white, and national flags and portraits of the founder of the republic can be seen everywhere.
• Parades and ceremonies: Festive processions, concerts and fireworks are held throughout the country.
• Wreath laying: Flowers are brought to the Anytkabir Mausoleum of Ataturk in Ankara as a sign of respect and memory.

This is the day of national pride, unity and hope! For us, those who are connected with Turkey, this is another reason to admire the rich history and culture of this amazing country.

Happy Republic Day, Turkey! May your flag fly proudly forever!
