The numbers speak for themselves: The Turkish Institute of Statistics (TÜIK) announced that the country invested a record 651.8 billion liras in research and development (R&D) in 2024.
It's not just growth, it's a real breakthrough! Compared to 2015, expenses have increased almost 30 times.
Why this is important:
The share in GDP is growing: Spending on science increased from 0.97% to 1.46% of GDP. In 10 years, the total investment has exceeded 1.6 trillion liras!
The engine of progress is business: More than 50% of investments come from private companies. Another 32% are government funds. A special focus is on defense, aviation and space.
New jobs are being created: During the same time, almost 200,000 new jobs have been created in the scientific field. The knowledge infrastructure is being strengthened!
Turkey is steadily moving towards creating an economy based on knowledge and innovation.
